Wine
events for everyone, to enjoy and share with friends, or just come on your own and make friends on the night - most people
do!
TUESDAY 9 MARCH 2010 - from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm
ONE BISHOPS SQUARE, 1 Bishops Square, London E1 6AD (in front of Liverpool Street Station overlooking Bishopsgate)
In association with GAMBERO ROSSO, the leading Italian food and wine media group,
I am pleased to invite you to gain an insight into some of Italy’s most notable wines. London is one of
eight major European cities chosen for this important road show, and I trust you will want to be there.
There will be 59 producers
showing their top ranges and over 240 of the very best wines: think Sassicaia, Barolo, Amarone, Ripasso, Brunello di Montalcino,
Planeta, Ben Reye’ di Pantelleria and many many more! All wines are of exceptional quality and worthy of your time.
From the award-winning (‘three glasses’, ‘three superior stars’ and 94 points Robert Parker
rated) wines of Feudi della Medusa from Sardinia, to the Illuminati artisan wines from Abruzzo, along with acknowledged gems
from Lungarotti to Tasca D’Almerita, this is arguably THE Italian wine event not to be missed. The cost is just £25.00 per person. (and there are discounts for early birds and small groups). Kindly RSVP at
your earliest convenience if you wish to reserve a ticket, as space is limited. You must pre-pay and pick
up your ticket from me at the entrance, otherwise you will not be allowed in. One Bishops Square is a newly built area located between
Bishopsgate and Old Spitalfields Market, opposite Liverpool Street Station. Walk for one minute down the buzzy Brushfield Street,
in front of Liverpool Street Station, and you are there. Look for the Allen & Overy building. If you need a map, I can
send it to you with confirmation of your attendance.

MONDAY 8 FEBRUARY 2010 – GASTRONOMICA 45 Tachbrook St London
SW1 2LZ (tube: Victoria. Take the Wilton Road exit, walk down Wilton Road, turn left into Warwick Way,
cross road to Tachbrook Street – 7 minutes’ walk)
Ffind sunshine in a glass when you join this first tasting at a new venue in Victoria. Gastronomica is a delicatessen,
a wine bar, a coffee shop and a restaurant. It is also a member of Slow Food, the association that vaIues taste, cultural,
regional differences and seasonality. Originating from Piemonte in Italy, it is now a world-wide movement. At this event we pay homage to Piemonte
with some excellent wines from the 2008 vintage, and food served the way we do at home: as a ‘tavolata’
– the long table – with platters of plentiful, delicious food. We start with Erbaluce di Caluso DOC,
a grape so expensive to grow that producers gave up for a few decades, so we are lucky to have it back. This will be served
with ham wrapped grissini. We continue with Arneis di Roero, Arenarium DOC, another typical Piedmontese grape deliciously
fragrant and dry and an array of Piemontese antipasti. Dolcetto di Dogliani from the province of Cuneo is the next
gem to be served with warm porchetta, fennel salad and roast potatoes. This is an amazing wine, tannic and fruity, which
has long appeared on the table of illustrious mortals. A delicious Barbera D’Asti from Cantine dei Sei
Castelli will be the perfect accompaniment to Piemonte’s, and arguably Italy’s, most expensive cheese, Castelmagno
served with honey, which has been granted the Protected Designation of Origin status (DOP) for its quality and uniquenes.
I am able to offer this event at such a good price because the wines come at retail price.
